Song of the Moment: Two Gallants “Nothing To You”
www.twogallants.com I love love love the band, Two Gallants. They are on Conor Oberst’s label, Saddle Creek, and have a slew full of wonderful songs. So, have a listen and dedicate the song to whichever jerk you’d like to dedicate this song to. Ha! Below you’ll find the live and studio versions of this song. Lyrics to Nothing To You : Well my kind’s been around forever And I claim to be one of the few But the lost cause of words walks away with my nerves ‘Cause I’m gay as a choir boy for you You got hair that recalls me of rivers Runs softly while you dream of…

Song of the Moment: Lana Del Rey “Video Games”
http://www.lanadelrey.com/ In case you’ve been living under a rock the past few months and have missed the BUZZ about Lana Del Ray-this week’s Song of the Moment is Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games.” Her album comes out at the end of the month and it’s gonna be huge. She’s been taking a bit of a beating due to a recent image change to better fit in with the industry. Others can’t handle that she looks/sounds like sex and has a rich daddy. Haters gonna hate…Regardless, the girl has skills and it’ll be interesting to watch her emerge. She performed last Saturday on SNL and has been receiving some harsh criticism,…

Album Review: Steve Aoki “Wonderland” 1/10/12 (Score 81%)
http://www.steveaoki.com http://www.dimmak.com I adore Steve Aoki. I got the chance to see him live this summer at the Identity Fest and loved his presence. He’s a star-the hippest of the hip. I also am a fan of several of his well-known tracks such as: “Misfits” “Wake Up Call” and “New Noise.” I’m excited to see him finally release a full-length album. Other than a few songs that failed, it’s an interesting album in the genre I like to refer to as pop-techno. His music is so damn likable and catchy, even if it’s a ‘lil heavy on the dubstep. 01. Steve Jobs (feat. Angerr Dimas)-Love the build-up! Bouncy. Video-gameISH. Aoki’s…

Dead Throne Tour 2011:The Devil Wears Prada, Whitechapel, Enter Shikari (Photos & Concert Review)
There is nothing like hardcore metal music to relieve the stresses of the week. I walked into the Royal Oak Music Theatre feeling tired and stressed out, but left feeling fresh and new. The Devil Wears Prada, Whitechapel, and Enter Shikari are on the forefront of the metal scene. Enter Shikari is a British band that mixes electronic music with metal in the most interesting way. Whitechapel is a heavy-hitting death metal group out of Knoxville, TN that are insanely good live. Lastly, The Devil Wears Prada is a revolutionary Christian metealcore band out of nearby Dayton, Ohio. Things got so lively during the performance of TDWP, that security kicked…

Holiday Show: Flatfoot 56, The Parka Kings, Mustard Plug and The Suicide Machines @ The Majestic 12/29/11 (Review)
The crowd was spilling out of Detroit’s, The Majestic to see a sound line-up for Mustard Plug’s Holiday Show on December 29, 2011: Flatfoot 56 The Parka Kings Mustard Plug The Suicide Machines If Flogging Molly and The Tossers had a baby, Flatfoot 56, a Celtic punk rock bank from Chicago, would probably be their son. They were a solid opener and had no trouble getting people to dance. Flatfoot 56 amped the crowd up with their rapid, energetic music: a piercing bagpipe, a fury of drums, a driving bass, a harmonious mandolin, and a fast-paced guitarist with a gruff, Irish tinted voice. They played songs like, “Chinatown Jail Break,” and…

Album Review: Young Jeezy “TM: 103 Hustlerz Ambition” (Score 83%)
Genre: Hip Hop / Rap / Hardcore http://www.usda2day.com http://www.defjam.com If you want something hardcore, this is the album for you. Young Jeezy is all about sex, weed and guns. I can’t see myself listening to this album on a daily basis because it’s so hard. Young Jeezy must not like recording alone because he has a lot of collaborations. Despite these things, he does deliver some witty punchlines. “Lose My Mind” featuring 103 – Dope, crisp, wild, crazy, heavily-medicated. “Ballin” featuring Lil Wayne – Gutter, futuristic, flavorful, splendid, fun. “.38” featuring Freddie Gibbs – Dangerous, lethal, primal, high-caliber, rapacious. “F.A.M.E.” featuring T.I. – Glamorous, attractive, magnetic, elaborate, daring. “I Do”…
