Justin Townes Earle at Orlando Calling 11/13/11

I had listened to Justin Townes Earle’s music in the past after reading rave reviews for his latest album “Harlem River Blues.” Justin is the son of Steve Earle, a well-known singer/songwriter. Both father and son have been upfront about their battles with addiction. Justin’s music is a mix of sadness and joy. Justin’s mild-mannered stage persona and shy smile make it easy forget that he’s had a troubled past. His set was so emotionally stirring that I completely forgot about Blake Shelton’s set going on at the same time and stayed for the entire set. After coming off of the kind of stressful week that thankfully only happens once in a awhile, his music was just what I needed.
