We Love Wayne White!
By Alexis Simpson Wayne White is an American artist from Tennessee who is documented in the film “Beauty is Embarrassing” which opens up in select theatres September 7th. Wayne worked on Peewee’s Playhouse, and has since done a lot of different creative things. We especially enjoy hearing him speak on the art world and what it means to be an artist. Check out the videos below. “You can get over-romanticized. You can get kind of self-pitying for yourself as an outsider. Oh nobody understands me blablabla..Of course they don’t understand you, go with it, love it you know, that’s what you’re there for not to be understood. An artist is an outsider…

Honda Civic Tour 2012: Incubus @ Palace of Auburn Hills 8/21/12 (Photos, Review & Setlist)
By Alexis Simpson We were especially psyched to see Incubus perform after getting the chance to participate in a group interview with Brandon Boyd and Chester Bennington and reviewing Incubus’ new HQ Live album. Incubus has their fair share of “popular” songs that fair weather fans will appreciate live, but their less radio-friendly music needs to be listened to multiple times in order to better appreciate their psychedelic instrumentation and thoughtful lyrics. Incubus’ set reached a high point Tuesday night with the songs “Anna Molly” and the fun mashup of Lionel Richie’s “Hello” and Incubus’ “Made for TV Movie.” The stage show featured a small video camera that rotated giant images of each performer which…

Honda Civic Tour 2012: Linkin Park @ the Palace of Auburn Hills (Photos, Review & Setlist)
By Alexis Simpson Linkin Park has sold over 50 million records, won two Grammy awards, and conquered the art of sounding as equally convincing live in a giant arena as on a polished studio album. The Honda Civic Tour drew a robust and diverse crowd. Our audience moment of the night was watching a fourteen year old kid rock out on the floor alone as he unabashedly made eye contact with a few much older fans in the stands as a way to acknowledge their shared musical fun and great experience. The stage setup was complete with ramps, platforms, neon lighting, and sparking pyrotechnics. Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda’s unrelenting energy carried…

311 @ DTE Energy Music Theatre (Photos, Review, & Setlist)
By Alexis Simpson Going to see 311 during the summertime has become a Michigan staple. 311’s Unity Tour is the perfect musical summer experience due to the up-beat blend of rock, reggae, and hip-hop. The uncluttered stage with brilliant lighting left plenty of room for frontmen Nick Hexum and SA Martinez to vibe with the crowd, dance, and perform their catalog of hits. 311 is made up of a group of seasoned performers that enjoy spreading their music. Standouts of the night included 311’s song ” Amber” and “P-Nut’s” bass solo. The Aggrolites and Slightly Stoopid opened for 311 and showcased a strong reggae sound mixed with superb horn sections. Neon Trees @ The Majestic Theater (Photos and Review)
By Jacob Giampa Neon Trees, a band from Provo, Utah, is back out on tour to promote their second studio album “The Picture Show.” They also brought along two other good bands for the ride. The first one, Twenty One Pilots, is a newer, unique pop/rap band on the Fueled by Ramen label. The other opening band, Walk The Moon, is an alternative pop band. This group paints their faces à la Avatar style! Twenty One Pilots were lively and fun to watch especially when the drummer black flipped off the piano. Musically, the high part of the set was when the band played “Car Radio”. I predict that Twenty One Pilots will…

Incubus HQ Live Album Review and First Impressions (Score 98%)
This live cd was recorded in a storefront space that was renovated into a high-tech arty performance space. For six nights, Incubus performed the tracks that makes up this album for their most loyal fans. This year Incubus celebrates their 20th anniversary as a band. This Wednesday they will be performing at The Palace of Auburn Hills, MI with Linkin Park. Below you’ll find our review of the”HQ Live” album. Overall we rated this album so highly because we are a fan of their instrumentation and meanings found in their music. We also got to preview their live DVD that shows a visually-appealing Brandon Boyd and his band recording HQ Live.…
