The Big Picture: Behind the Scenes Photos of King 810’s Video, “Fat Around the Heart”

John Quigley aka “Quig” of Chrome Bumper Films was hired to direct King 810’s first major label (Roadrunner Records) video, “Fat Around The Heart.” Quig is native to Michigan, and has worked with artists such as Eminem, Kid Rock, Christina Aguilera, Tori Amos and 50 Cent. His diverse resume includes directing videos, commercials, documentaries, and TV programs. Quig was chosen for this project due to his creative and visual artistry.

I was brought on to “Fat Around The Heart” as the Stills Photographer whose job was to create documentary photographs to be used in the video and for promotional purposes. The video was a two day intense affair involving multiple extras/friends of the band, workers, and of course, the band. Most of us were assigned to be on set between 5am and 7am in order to take advantage of many blocks of Flint being shut down just for the video. We even had our own police escorts.

Throughout the day, King 810 was especially attentive to the details of their video. The band and their friends consider themselves family, which was evident in the positive way they supported each other and looked after one another. The friends chosen to be in the video were in it for the long haul, and readily dealt with the long hours, heat and strenuous work. I am excited to have been a part of such a unique project, and to share in the band’s experience of taking their music to this level.
