Friday night at The Loving Touch was ZelooperZ’s Bothic Record Release party featuring Charles Tree, Skywalkr, Bulletproof Dolphin and of course, Zelooperz. The crowd was a diverse mix of music lovers hip to the fact that ZelooperZ of the Bruiser Brigade crew, is one of the most interesting new artists not only in Detroit, but anywhere. ZelooperZ is a hustler because he has assembled a strong team of industry pros that are working to get his music heard worldwide. He’s already on the verge of being a media darling with publications like Vice, Complex, The Fader, XXL Magazine writing tidbits about him before his album has even been released yet.
ZelooperZ made his first appearance at The Loving Touch when he strolled through his fans and walked up on to the stage to greet the crowd and thank us for coming. He wore a black fur coat, ripped black pants, black t-shirt with small patches that looked like small planet Saturns with a Gothic cross on top, and stylish black leather moto boots. His jewelry was well thought-out and showed that Zelooperz has plenty of depth. He wore a thick multi-colored jeweled necklace made out of real gems, a thin chain with a dolphin charm, and another bigger chain holding a grim reaper. The bright gems and dolphin mixed with the grim reaper suited ZelooperZ perfectly since Bothic, as explained to Detroit alt weekly paper, Metro Times, is a mix of both darkness and light.
He also had on a large evil eye ring, a 4 finger big-ass ring, and a “Child of Hell” belt buckle from the clothing line Supreme of New York. You can tell a lot about an artist as to how they present themselves. ZelooperZ’s style screams of creativity, thoughtfulness, and defiance. ZelooperZ is also 6’7″ and exceedingly skinny which means that he is going to get noticed in a crowd regardless.
On stage, ZelooperZ starting out in chill mode but ended in a frenzy. Fans danced with abandonment, and one young dude’s face even looked like it was melting off. Scattered throughout the crowd were ZelooperZ’s close friends that he acknowledged briefly throughout the night. He performed his entire album and owned the stage like he had been on stage for years. ISBD or “I Should be Dead” is probably his most well-known song as of yet, which not surprisingly received the most enthusiastic response. The video already has around 760k hits. Not too shabby. Some of the most memorable lyrics are: “Hammy to face Fucking her face,” “Homeless plenty of time Hungry as mice, I should be dead,” “The Xan and that Molly Shroom and the x Henny and Jenny Addie’s and I ain’t say lean All of the the shit that I did”

He’s raw, and the kids are going to eat that shit up. Comments made by fans and haters on Facebook and the mean Internet are either love or hate. People that love the blandness of the radio and the status quo aren’t going to get him. Free-thinkers, party kids, and those of us thirsty for something new are going to love Bothic. His other newly released song “Elevators” gives a nod to that old school techno song by Interactive called “Elevator Up & Down” since the hook is mixed with, “ELEVATOR UP DOWN UP DOWN ELEVATOR UP DOWN…” and “LET THEM HOS FIGHT LET THEM HOS FIGHT.” It’s catchy, dirty, mischievously fun, and even better live. At the end of the night, ZelooperZ auctioned off one of his paintings to a guy for $180. ZelooperZ is a talented drawer and painter, and can be found on Instagram selling his work as well. Watch out world for this one; he’s about to tear shit up:)
