Taking Back Sunday, The Used and Tonight Alive @ The Fillmore (Photos)
By Jacob Giampa Taking Back Sunday hit The Fillmore in Detroit with The Used and Tonight Alive on their most recent tour. Before TBS played the sold out show, they had a private acoustic show thanks to 89x. At the acoustic show, TBS played a mixture of old and new songs such as “Flicker Flame”and “Faith.” After they finished their set, they gave some lucky fans a chance to get tickets to the sold out show that night. …

Jay Z @ The Palace of Auburn Hills 1-10-14 (Concert Review, Photos, & Setlist)
By Alexis Simpson http://www.Jay-Z.com http://www.MySpace.com/Jay-Z http://www.YouTube.com/JayZ http://www.Twitter.com/JayZ http://www.Rocawear.com http://www.Roc4Life.com http://www.RocNation.com Jay Z’s “Magna Carter World Tour” took over The Palace of Auburn Hills last Friday. Jay Z seems to be adamant about pursuing the title of “Best Rapper Ever” as he skillfully displayed his masterful rhymes to an appreciative Michigan audience. Jay Z has been at the top of the rap game for years and shows no sign of growing stale. The lanky Jay Z easily took control of the Palace stage as he engaged the crowd. The stage set was colorful yet simple which is preferable to a gimmicky over the top theatrical production that takes away from the…

Aretha Franklin @ Sound Board Theater in Detroit 12-21-13 (Concert Photos)
By Alexis Simpson Aretha Franklin looked beautiful and elegant last night in Detroit, and sounded lovely. She radiated happiness to be performing and displayed a gracious attitude towards the crowd. It was a great honor to photograph the ‘Queen of Soul’ who has won 17 Grammies and who Rolling Stone has listed as the Greatest Singer of All Time. Love her! http://www.arethafranklin.net http://www.twitter.com/ArethaFranklin

Drake @ The Palace of Auburn Hills (Photos & Review)
By Alexis Simpson Drake’s concert last Monday generated some of the worst I-75 traffic The Palace of Auburn Hills has seen in awhile. Once inside the Palace, all was well as a fun-loving crowd partied throughout the night to performances by Future, Miguel, and Drake. Detroit’s own local celeb, Chandra Davis, (aka London Charles aka Deelishis) from Flava Flav’s old show “Flavor of Love” was seen mingling with adoring fans. Her appearance fueled speculation amongst concert attendees that perhaps she was dating Drake because online gossip sites have paired them up quite regularly over the past year. Drake’s performance was on point as he skillfully articulated his rhymes and moved across…

The 89X Nutcracker Tour with Panic! at the Disco and Switchfoot @ The Detroit Fillmore 8-12-13 (Photos & Review)
By Jacob Giampa It’s that time of year again, that’s right it was 89x’s Nutcracker show last week at The Detroit FIllmore. This year the main acts were Switchfoot and Panic at the Disco. Switchfoot used their set to become closer with the crowd. Their frontman spent most of his time off stage, in the crowd or climbing the walls of the venue. Highlights of their site were the tune “Meant to Love” and Beastie Boy’s “Sabotage.” Panic! at the Disco just finished touring with Fall Out Boy, but are already back for more. Their top songs were, “I Write Sins not Tragedies” and some of their new songs “Ms…

Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas @ St. Andrew’s Hall 11-27-13 (Photos & Review)
By Alexis Simpson Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas came home to Detroit to perform at St. Andrew’s Hall the night before Thanksgiving. Opening acts included: The Sights, George Morris & The Gypsy Chorus and DJ Nardolicious. Jessica Hernandez had an array of merch swag including a wide array of records and two racks of thrift shop shirts adorned with the band’s patch. Ms. Hernandez’ band of boys was altered with a few missing faces such as bassist Ben Sturley. Jessica Hernandez looked like a young Cher with her long dark hair, cropped bangs and bright mini dress. Her voice sounded as strong and soulful as ever as she performed her…

Fitz & The Tantrums wsg Capital Cities @ The Fillmore Detroit 11-17-13
By Cristina Vitello Sunday night 11/17/13 was a parade of indie-pop music that challenged even the most reserved fan to tap their toes. Featuring soulful and funk-infused styles compliments of Capital Cities and Fitz & The Tantrums, fans were treated to three hours of pure dance-party fun under the historic architecture of The Fillmore Detroit. However, before the real show began, Beat Club took the stage for a less than stellar seven song set. While they had fun, the crowd ultimately did not. Lacking the funky soul that would prove to be a theme of the evening, Beat Club had an average performance reminiscent of a high school talent…

Fat Tour 2013 Less Than Jake and Anti Flag 11/14/13 @ Clutch Cargos
By Jacob Giampa It’s a sad day when a venue has to close its doors for good. Last Thursday was Clutch Cargo’s last show, and they went out with a bang with the Fat Tour 2013. Headlining the show was Less than Jake and Anti Flag with special guest, Masked Intruders. This punk rock tour will be one to remember. Masked Intruders has a bright future. They are a fun punk rock band who wear colored ski masks and refer to the band members as the color of mask the are wearing. The group have a very pop punk sound, and sang mostly about girls. During their song “Heart Shaped…
