Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas came home to Detroit to perform at St. Andrew’s Hall the night before Thanksgiving. Opening acts included: The Sights, George Morris & The Gypsy Chorus and DJ Nardolicious. Jessica Hernandez had an array of merch swag including a wide array of records and two racks of thrift shop shirts adorned with the band’s patch. Ms. Hernandez’ band of boys was altered with a few missing faces such as bassist Ben Sturley. Jessica Hernandez looked like a young Cher with her long dark hair, cropped bangs and bright mini dress. Her voice sounded as strong and soulful as ever as she performed her ever-growing repertoire of songs. She also made sure to show off her ability to play multiple instruments as well as sing à la Kid Rock. Top songs from the night were “Young, Dumb, & Drunk” and “Don’t you take my man to Idaho.”
Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas just released their Demons EP last month, and plan to release their first full album Tarantula Mansion in March. Jessica Hernandez is a top notch Detroit talent with her own distinct style. The group’s last year has been one of transition due to their record deal with Blue Note Records of EMI being disrupted when Universal bought out EMI. Ms. Hernandez opted to take her record back and join Instant Records instead. The band has no shortage of talent, so it shall be interesting to watch Jessica Hernandez navigate her own path to success.
