Civil Twilight at Voodoo Experience in New Orleans 10/28/11(Photos & Review)
Andrew McKellar Steven McKellar Richard Wouters http://www.civiltwilightband.com http://civiltwilightband.tumblr.com http://twitter.com/civiltwilight Civil Twilight is a rock band out of Cape Town, South Africa that should be on your list of bands to take notice of. They cite Oasis, U2 and Nirvana,The Verve, The Police, Muse and Radiohead as their main inspirations. We had heard great things about Civil Twilight and knew their performance was a MUST SEE at Voodoo. Live Civil Twilight sounded wonderfully robust and had a sophisticated smooth style. Their blended melodies are admirable and singer Steven has a captivating voice. Check out photos from their set!

The Raconteurs @ MI Fest 9/17/2011 (Photos)
To put it simply, The Raconteurs shined on the night of the first MI Fest. What a lucky crowd of people we were that night to witness the re-awakening of a band of paramount importance. Enjoy the pictures! The Black Belles @ MI Fest (Photos & Review)
The Black Belles could be seen throughout the day checking out different performances at MI Fest. Meanwhile many festival attendees had the Black Belles slated as one of the top new groups that they wanted to see at the festival. Jack White discovered the group and is helping them to make their presence known with the release of an album in November. Smart move Jack! The girls impressed the crowd with their modern blend of grunge and soul. Photographing them was a blast with their striking good looks and strong stage presence. Check out the photos… The Black Belles

Ty Stone @ MI Fest (Photos and Interview)
Ty Stone has been described as “a powerhouse singer in an unprettified package.” This Detroit native has been earning lots of fans due to his raw talent, lyrics that hit home, and likeable personality. Music has always been a big part of Ty Stone’s life, but it took a little help from Kid Rock to take it to a whole new level. A good friend of Ty’s was able to slip Kid Rock a demo during a Piston’s game, and not long after, Ty found himself hanging with Kid Rock, touring, and putting out a new album on Top Dog/Atlantic Records. Ty’s story inspires, and he deserves his success. Noize got…

Sheryl Crow @ MI Fest (Photos & Review)
Sheryl Crow has won 9 Grammy Awards and has an impressive catalog of songs. Despite all her achievements, sometimes all it takes is one song for an artist to make an impression on a fan. For me that song is “I Shall Believe.” I was ecstatic to hear her play that live at MI Fest. I will even forgive her for teasing us early during her intro to her 4th song with Kid Rock’s name as if he may join her on stage. How mischievous! Regardless, she sang beautifully and warmed up quickly to the MI Fest crowd as they warmly embraced her music.

His previous albums and most recent endeavor, Album of the Year, have allowed him to tour extensively around the globe. Everybody was talking about Black Milk’s performance at MI Fest. He killed it! In preparation for MI Fest, Noize got the chance to interview Black Milk. In case you missed it, here is a copy of that interview and pictures from MI Fest. What are you listening to now? The Brown EP I did with Danny…

Pujol @ MI Fest (Photos)
Puhol, another one to watch from Third Man Records, describes his music as “Southern Gothic Rock.” The label’s site has an amusing bio well worth sharing… “Pujol was raised in Tullahoma, TN where he lived in a haunted house which sat one block away from the wrong side of the tracks. He spent his formative years scribbling on walls, shredding behind closed doors, and riding around in cars with older kids. He took his first communion at 13 and secretly drank his first beer shortly thereafter in St. Cecilia’s bathroom, emerging an identity-inclusive Peter Panentheist. When asked at the tender age of 4 what he wanted to be when he…
