Lindsey Stirling @ The Crofoot 3/16/13 (Photos, Setlist and Concert Review)
By Jacob Giampa Lindsey Stirling played her violin with great enthusiasm and energy for the sold out Crofoot Ballroom crowd. I have never seen the Crofoot so packed! She performed a mix of covers and original work. She really got the crowd going by dancing all over the entire stage, in fun theatrical type outfits. Lindsey has a unique take on modern hits. This girl is definitely the most entertaining violinist around. When she comes back I would get your tickets early because it will definitely sell out! http://lindseystirlingviolin.com http://www.youtube.com/lindseystomp http://www.youtube.com/LindseyTime https://twitter.com/lindseystirling SETLIST Elements Electric Daisy Violin Shadows Michael Jackson Medley Song of the Caged Bird Free Bird (a few…

Slightly Stoopid @ St. Andrew’s Hall 3/10/13 (Photos and Review)
By Jacob Giampa I first saw Slightly Stoopid last year when they played with 311, and I was hooked on them right away. They are now headlining their own tour. During their Detroit show, kids kept getting busted for smoking weed and the fans were throwing joints on stage for the band as well. Many positive vibes were being sent out by the crowd and you could tell that the band was soaking all them up. Throughout the show there were many genres of music being played such as reggae, rap, ska and some good old fashion Slightly Stoopid punk. Dragonette & Major Lazer @ Royal Oak Music Theatre 3/2/13 (Photos)
By Jacob Giampa I was amped to check out Dragonette at the Royal Oak Music Theatre last Saturday. I had heard great things about Dragonette in regards to the group being a breakout band. The singer, Martina, was an interesting character, and knew how to work the crowd like no other with her presence and raw voice. Their live performance was incentive enough to learn more about their diverse yet fun music with entertaining lyrics. So far, I’m a fan! Check out the photos of Dragonette and Major Lazer below! Pentatonix @ Royal Oak Music Theatre 2/28/13 (Photos & Review)
By Jacob Giampa I did not know what to expect at a Pentatonix concert, but I had heard great things about the Texan artists. The Royal Oak Music Theater was packed full of all kinds of people, young and old. This was my first time seeing an a capella group with such a big following! Their opener was a cover of the Swedish House Mafia song “Save The World,” accompanied by a beautiful light show of white and blue accents. As the show progressed the singers came out one by one to show off their unique set of skills. Kevin Olusola had an insane mix of cello and beat boxing skills that the…

AWOLNATION @ St. Andrew’s Hall 9/18/2012 (Photos & Review)
By Jacob Giampa Last Tuesday AWOLNATION made a stop in Detroit for their “Never Let Your Fear Decide your Fate” tour. More than half of their shows (including their Detroit show) have sold out due to how well the band performs together and the originality of their music. Imagine Dragons and Zeale are a part of this tour as well. Zeale was the first band of the night, they are a new Hip-Hop and Indie group from Austin, Texas. Since the group was in Detroit, the home of so many great MC’s, Zeale performed an entertaining freestyle rap using the audience-chosen words “orange,” “boat,” and “sexy.” The audience loved it, and the night…

Neon Trees @ The Majestic Theater (Photos and Review)
By Jacob Giampa Neon Trees, a band from Provo, Utah, is back out on tour to promote their second studio album “The Picture Show.” They also brought along two other good bands for the ride. The first one, Twenty One Pilots, is a newer, unique pop/rap band on the Fueled by Ramen label. The other opening band, Walk The Moon, is an alternative pop band. This group paints their faces à la Avatar style! Twenty One Pilots were lively and fun to watch especially when the drummer black flipped off the piano. Musically, the high part of the set was when the band played “Car Radio”. I predict that Twenty One Pilots will…

By Jacob Giampa Trespass America Festival came to Meadow Brook last week. Five Finger Death Punch headlined the tour with Killswitch Engage, and the openers: Trivium, Emmure, God Forbid and Battlecross. The tour is running till the end of August. Battlecross, the Michigan natives hit the stage first followed by God Forbid then Emmure, who are both on Victory Records. Trivium was next, this band was the most interactive with the crowd. The bass player, Paolo Gregoletto, was frequently leaving the stage to go play in the crowd. He even made it all the way up to the top of the hill and was rocking out in the mosh pit! This…
