A Closer Look at Jack White’s Third Man Records (Photos of Orlando Calling, Commentary, and Recommendations)
Jack White III grew up in Southwest Detroit as one of ten children. He flirted with the idea of life careers in priesthood and upholstery, but instead became the frontman for The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and The Dead Weather. He has also created the most innovative record label that is doing great things for music. Third Man Records was originally created in Detroit in 2001, but didn’t have a physical location until 2009 in Nashville, TN. The location offers a record store, a record label, photo studio, dark room. recording booth, production office, distribution center and a performance space. When talented artists are passing through Nashville, Jack White invites…

Kid Rock Goes All Out for Orlando Calling Festival 11/13/11(Photos & Review)
http://kidrock.com/ http://twitter.com/kidrock The taxi drivers of Orlando informed us that Kid Rock rented out the famous Florida strip joint “The Dollhouse” for some pre-performance debauchery the night he got into town. While this is purely speculation, let’s hope he squeezed in some deserved downtime in Orlando because his spectacular Sunday performance called for it. For a Detroiter, it’s uncanny to travel down South and see hordes of Southerners rockin’ “Made in Detroit” gear. Kid Rock has a special relationship with his Michigan fans due to his loyalty and continuous nationwide broadcasting of his love for Detroit. Kid Rock is also quite vocal about his love for our country which is…

Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas Play at Orlando Calling Festival 11/12/11 (Photos)
Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas traveled from Detroit to play at the Orlando Calling festival last weekend. The group put on a vibrant performance that generated a lot of positive buzz throughout the festival. Local Detroiters can find the group performing at various venues around the city. One of the best places to see them perform is at The Bakery Loft above The Mexicantown bakery. Jessica’s family owns both Armando’s Mexican Restaurant and The Mexicantown Bakery. Another interesting fact about Jessica is that she makes her own performance outfits! http://Jessicahernandez.net http://twitter.com/#!/DetroitJess http://myspace.com/jhernandezmusick http://jessicahernandezthedeltas.bandcam… http://artistdata.sonicbids.com/jessica-… http://www.purevolume.com/JessicaHernandez http://www.reverbnation.com/jessicaherna… Here are a few bonus pictures from Jessica’s performance at the Detroit Music Awards!

Hallowicked at the Fillmore in Detroit with Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, & Blaze (Photos & Review)
Every Halloween Juggalos and Juggalettes take over the streets of Detroit. This year’s Hallowicked was bigger and better than ever. ICP, Twiztid, and Blaze all performed as headliners, and Big Hutch opened. Painstaking care was taken with the stage setup and lighting. Each lightbulb on the giant ICP sign had to be screwed in individually. Also, check out the fresh candy-colored lighting for ICP’s set. I had about two minutes to snap photos during the ICP set before the Faygo was flowing. After the concert, there was an after party at St. Andrew’s. As usual, ICP goes above and beyond for their fans. Thanks Psychopathic Records for all your hard…

The Raconteurs at Voodoo Fest in New Orleans (Photos, Setlist & Concert Review)
Members: Jack White, Jack Lawrence,Brendan Benson, Patrick Keeler http://theraconteursfans.com http://www.theraconteurs.com Voodoo Fest was wise to have The Raconteurs close out the main stage, because their performance was the best of the weekend. During the show, Jack White remarked that he had been in Detroit the day before and that his hometown, New Orleans, and Memphis all had the same kind of vibe. After “Rich Kid Blues” Jack silenced the crowd with a dark, dirty, ever-so-slow guitar solo preceding “Blue Veins” that showed the mesmerized crowd that he was indeed a true original. During his solo, his head tilted slightly and a small smile crept across his face as if he was thinking…

Every Avenue @ St. Andrew’s 10/23/11 (Photos and Review)
David Ryan Strauchman – Vocals, Piano Joshua Withenshaw – Guitar, Backup Vocals Jimmie Deeghan- Guitar, Backup Vocals Matt Black – Bass, Backup Vocals Dennis Wilson – Drums Hometown-Marysville, MI! Michigan band Every Avenue is a musically strong group that produces contagious songs. Sunday night in Detroit the band meshed well together and performed with a zest that is customary of their live shows. Frontman Dave delivered his lyrics in a believable way because he sang with emotion and a relevant degree of earnestness. Their homecoming was well worth the wait. Every Avenue is another example of the the large pool of musicians that Michigan is proud to call their own. SETLIST…

Mustard Plug, Obi Fernandez, Green Room Rockers, The Pinstripes, Gunday Monday, and Something to Do @ Blind Pig 10/15/11 (Photos and Review)
Review by Mitch Photos by Alexis If you weren’t at The Blind Pig this past Saturday, the 15th, you missed out. It was a show filled with Ska, Soul, Reggae and Punk music seamlessly transitioning through out the night. Headlining was Mustard Plug, celebrating their 20th year together. Something to Do Gunday Monday The Pinstripes Green Room Rockers Obi Fernandez Mustard Plug It was a first for me (and many others) seeing Wisconsin’s Something to Do, and I for one was impressed by them. Their arrangement of music made me think of fast quirky waltzes and had a Mighty Mighty Bosstones feel with their announcing horns and strong bass—but without the…

All of Camp Casey’s programs are free for families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Josh is set to release his new album Redemption on November 1st and has…
