My Chemical Romance at Voodoo Fest 10/28/11 (Photos & Review)
Gerard Way Mikey Way Ray Toro Frank Iero http://www.mychemicalromance.com http://www.myspace.com/mychemicalromance http://youtube.com/mychemicalromance http://www.mychemicalromance.com/store http://twitter.com/MCRofficial The Voodoo Experience was the last stop on My Chemical Romance’s 2011 US tour. Their hour long set was a dazzling array of their greatest hits. MCR are experts at being able to command a large stage. In fact, the bigger the stage, the harder they rock. In celebration of Voodoo and Halloween, the band wore medieval costumes that worked well with the red, orange, and yellow lighting. Gerard rightfully fished for positive feedback from the crowd by asking, “Did any other band dress up for you other than the same ‘ol rock ‘n roll shit?” Die-hard MCR…

Odd Future Screws Up at Voodoo Fest 10/30/11 (Commentary, Review and Photos)
I was one of the photographers in the Odd Future press pit at the Voodoo Experience this past weekend. This is my take on the events that happened during their performance, the performance itself, and how the two relate. HERE is a link to what happened in case you haven’t heard. DJ Syd tha Kid started off the performance by entering the stage alone. She had an engaging smile and got the crowd pumped. It didn’t take long for chaos to ensue after the boys of Odd Future strutted onto the stage. Tyler the Creator instigated the chaos by going on a short tirade about how much he hates photographers. In…

Quintron and Miss Pussycat at Voodoo Fest 10/28/11 (Photos)
http://www.quintronandmisspussycat.com/ Quintron and Miss Pussycat were the most unique performers of this year’s Voodoo Fest. Quintron is a New Orleans local who is known as a one-man-band. Miss Pussycat is his wife. Quintron is a patented inventor of many of the instruments he uses when performing. The car shown in the pictures below is an organ/synthesizer combo. Somehow Quintron is able to play the organ, synthesizer, high-hat, wah-wah pedal, and sing all at once. His wife also sings and plays maracas.

The Pretty Reckless @ Royal Oak Music Theatre 10/24/11 (Photos and Review)
Taylor Momsen – Vocals Ben Phillips – Guitar Mark Damon – Bass Jamie Perkins – Drums http://www.theprettyreckless.com I bet when Taylor Momsen’s friends want to tease her, they call her by the nickname of her Gossip Girl character, “Little J.” There ain’t nothing “little” about frontwoman Taylor Momsen-she is all woman. Even though she’s only 18 years old, Taylor knows exactly what she wants and gets it. Years ago Ms. Momsen admirably recognized that she wanted to front a band and play her kind of music. Momsen’s ability to pursue and recognize her passions at a young age is of great respect. Taylor’s choice of covering The White Stripes “Seven…

Evanescence @ Royal Oak Music Theatre 10/24/11 (Review and Photos)
Six hours ago Amy Lee tweeted, “Detroit took the cake. Best crowd of the tour so far!” Detroit’s sold out crowd was equally impressed by Evanescence in terms of performance and stage production. The audience was a diverse mix of ages and ethnicities mixed with the usual Goth-garbed Amy Lee look-alikes. It was a great spot to people watch that night because it was interesting to see such a wide variety of people openly displaying their passion for the music in various different ways. Amy Lee’s voice is startling. Her rare voice, piano abilities, and goth metal/rock band are an entrancing mix. Everybody knows the girl can sing, but to…
