By Alexis Simpson All week we looked forward to blowing off steam at the Death Grips show at the Magic Stick in Detroit, MI. Today the Death Grips were deservedly awarded an accolade as Spin’s “Artist of the Year.” Their sound is intense, primal, guttural, bass-ridden, industrial, earthy, and delightfully unusual. Percussionist Zack Hill set the pulse of the night with his unrelenting drumming. Stefan “MC Ride” Burnett spouts his lyrics face to face with his audience  and dances with wild abandon.
