Regina Spektor @ The Fillmore Detroit (Photos, Review, & Setlist)
By Alexis Simpson
The lovely and gracious Regina Spektor performed at The Fillmore Detroit this past Saturday for a packed venue full of devoted fans. Regina is touring this year in support of her latest release, What We Saw From the Cheap Seats. Her performance drew in a fashionable Detroit crowd, with many die-hard fans playfully imitating Regina’s whimsical full-skirted feminine style.
Most of the performance, Regina sang from behind her piano but she did venture to center stage several times in order to maximize her interaction with her audience. The Russian-born beauty who was raised in the Bronx, performed with the poise and polish of a classically trained artist who knows how to entwine her charming personality into her stage presence and music. When she spoke to the crowd in her soft-spoken demure voice, Regina addressed us in such a way that we were sure Detroit fans had made a particularly positive impression on her. Highlights of the night included the Russian song, “Ne Me Quitte Pas” and audience favorite “Samson.” Regina Spektor’s voice is so pure and enchanting. When she was done performing, Regina lingered on stage a few extra minutes to speak directly to a few fans who wanted to show their appreciation. It was a most memorable evening!
