American Icon, Kenny Rogers helped to bring Christmas to Detroit with his wonderful concert highlighting his greatest hits and holiday favorites. He drew a good sized crowd consisting of people of all ages that were easily charmed by Kenny’s engaging smile, twinkle in his eye and easy-going chatter between his songs. We give much respect to artists like Kenny Rogers still going strong and sharing music even after over fifty years of being in the music business. He sounded great, and was joined on stage by a group of accomplished musicians. Later in the show, a children’s choir, Divine Child Choir and special guest Billy Dean, performed with Kenny which helped to add to the Christmas spirit.
Many years ago I saw Kenny Rogers perform at The Fox Theatre with my mother who had a huge crush on him. Seeing Mr. Rogers perform again brought back great memories of my mom and how funny it was to see a parent fawn over a musician. Kenny Rogers has performed a Christmas tour for the last thirty years, and his joy for performing and interacting with his fans was evident. Check out his impressively long setlist below in case you missed the show! We look forward to his return to Detroit, and think that next time he should do a joint tour with Dolly Parton!
