We could not miss watching the Melvins Lite (Buzz, Dale, and Trevor Dunn) perform in Hamtramck during their attempt to become the Guinness World Record holders for the first band to tour the full United States and D.C. in 51 days with a tour kicking off Sept. 5 in Anchorage, Alaska and wrapping up Oct. 25 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The legendary band sounded superb with no signs of wear and tear despite their grueling schedule. Small’s bar sold out the Detroit leg of this tour and people were packed into the performance room. Before the show Buzz Osbourne paced back and forth outside the venue seemingly in deep concentration to prepare for the performance. Whatever his pre-concert routine involves, it worked. The group took the stage and started the night off with slow trance-like low sounds and movements that built the anticipation for the wondrous dark music.
