#happymothersday part dos from @clawsonsteakhouse #happymothersday part dos from @clawsonsteakhouse where we met Paul’s parents for a lovely meal. My due date is now about 3-6 weeks away so this could be our last hurrah for a lil while. Some old lady asked me if I was “having twins” since my belly is so rotund and large. I think she was being catty but I was too merry to care. Motherhood didn’t come easy to me due to trying to conceive at an older age which I like to blame on kissing too many of the wrong frogs. Ha sorry guys. I have fully embraced motherhood, pregnancy and all its woes. (That doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to complain sometimes!) Paul and I are so lucky to have two amazing kids that are constantly making us laugh. My mom would have spoiled them silly. My in-laws cherish them and give us many needed breaks. What a perfect day!
#happymothersday to everybody!! Today we are going #happymothersday to everybody!! Today we are going to @clawsonsteakhouse to celebrate! Yesterday my dad and grandma carol came over;) I’m getting hungry!!!

Going #outtoeat w kids to a nice restaurant can be Going #outtoeat w kids to a nice restaurant can be an adventure. On our last outing the hostess took one look at us and literally ran away in the opposite of direction. Next she boldly asked us if we had reservations though nobody else was in the restaurant. We did have one and we even made sure to ask for a high chair in the reservation which of course she hadn’t bothered to locate. One bad egg wasn’t about to ruin our night, besides we are a motley crew so we can’t totally blame her. Nevertheless our waitress was a gem and got us in and out of there. They sat us far away from the other two parties that arrived later so nobody heard Rune proudly yelling, “DiARRhEA!!” at nothing in particular. Nobody else saw Lola dipping her crayon in hummus and licking it off and then wrapping lemons around her crayons. I managed to get a good photo of my giant #pregnant belly. Just getting out of the house feels like a feat so I’m glad we were able to get out of the house and hopefully the next dinner date will be just the two of us❤️
Tonight we attempted another #dinnerdate out w kid Tonight we attempted another #dinnerdate out w kids in tow. We went to @eatatbohemia in #royal oak. The Laffa #bread was the star of the show. Sooooo friggin good. We also ordered the #fondue, #hummus, #carrots #branzino and veal and lamb kabob. Paul had the #lebanese #maitai drink. Paul and I would love to go back except next time without kids. They were a little bit extra tonight…
It’s tradition that each baby gets their own nam It’s tradition that each baby gets their own name sign for their room and baby Gemma’s arrived today. Isn’t it pretty? I’m 29 weeks today and I can’t believe I have to wait 9 more weeks until #csection day. the baby is measuring big and so is my belly! Lola was a big baby too. it’s possible I may deliver earlier if she grows fast. My next ultrasound is May 2 so I’ll know more then. I’m hoping to stay off work until after my #maternityleave is over because I have the worst insomnia when I’m #pregnant but I can sleep ok during the day for some reason. It’s as if my circadian rhythm is reversed. Anyways if you made it this far, so far baby’s name will be Gemma Jolie Doty thanks to her brother who insists we call her “Gemma Jojo” so we had to come up with a pretty name that has “Jo” in it and Jolie is perfect.

This weekend is coming to an end. We have definite This weekend is coming to an end. We have definitely slowed down because I’m so very tired from being almost 26 weeks pregnant and poor Paul tore his rotator cuff. Rune did his regular gymnastics and swimming class and everybody made sure to take time to play outside and enjoy the warmer weather. Next step is to repair things around the house. Hopefully soon we are planning to spend a night in #annarbor because we found a hotel w a really nice shallow kid’s pool. Our last mini trip was nice but too tiring in my pregnancy state since we didn’t know Rune would be trying to run off to every giant water slide in sight! We are learning! Paul and I love staying in hotels because there is something relaxing about being somewhere with no clutter and no toys. #momlife #springishere
Today we went to #sundaybrunch at @popsforitalian Today we went to #sundaybrunch at @popsforitalian in #ferndale. The food was great and everybody behaved. Special thanks to the young guy who yelled to me something like, “dingdang hot mama Zowie pow, you a hot!” I looked at him dumbfounded since im almost #25weekspregnant (yay for viability)and feeling very round and duck-like.” I guess some ppl like that sort of thing.🤷🏼‍♀️ The weather is so perfect so afterwards we drove around to do our #marketplace pickups and got some free formula and laundry baskets. Anybody pay a service to do their laundry? I’m sick of laundry, we have too much.

Album Review: Larry and His Flask “Hobo’s Lament” (Score 92%)

    September 28, 2012 / 0 Comments

By Mitch Planamento At first glance, the cover of Larry and His Flask’s six songs EP, Hobo’s Lament, looks like Jack Nichloson is flipping you off—which would be hilarious if it was actually him. Moving past that, half of this six song EP is made up of older songs (“Closed Doors”, “My Name is Cancer” and “Swing”). Although it would be preferable to have more than half the songs be new, the older songs do add to this overall wonderful work of intense prose hopped up on speed, dreams and ironically played music. LAHF do not disappoint with their consistent style of smoking strings plucked to the point of breaking,…

Frank Turner, Larry and His Flask, and Jenny Owen Youngs @ St. Andrew’s Hall (Photos & Review)

    September 13, 2012 / 0 Comments

By Alexis Simpson British singer Frank Turner charmed the audience at Detroit’s St. Andrew’s Hall with his folk rock music, friendly demeanor, and spirited stage show. The crowd was well-versed in Turner’s lyrics and even the believers sang along to the blasphemously fun and cheeky song “Glory Hallelujah.” We also got a kick out of the new song “Wherefore Art Thou, Gene Simmons?.” Frank Turner showed his playful side to us when he asked the audience to play the “air harmonica” during one of his songs to which we happily obliged, and were later awarded with Jenny Owen Youngs joining Frank on stage to play the real harmonica. Another high point of the evening was…

Stewed, Screwed and Tattooed Tour: Reverend Horton Heat, Larry And His Flask and The Goddamn Gallows @ The Machine Shop 3/13/12 (Review)

    March 21, 2012 / 0 Comments

The Goddamn Gallows (http://www.goddamngallows.com/) Larry And His Flask (http://www.larryandhisflask.com/) Reverend Horton Heat (http://www.reverendhortonheat.com/) Flint’s The Machine Shop hosted Reverend Horton Heat’s “Stewed, Screwed and Tattooed” tour for their upcoming album, “25 to Life,” to be released on March 27th. Each band stood out with incredible performances, and made a Tuesday night anything but ordinary. If you don’t feel a bit of wanderlust after seeing The Goddamn Gallows, you might not be listening hard enough. Touring at least 200 days a year, this gutterbilly band from Lansing, MI, would probably play until their fingers fell off. The Goddamn Gallows play roots-oriented trickster melodies with solid, dark beats, spirited strings that pound…
