Airborne Toxic Event 7/29/2011 (Photos and Review)

Usually at rock concerts, unabashed fans are seen recklessly strumming their air guitars. At The Airborne Toxic Event show at the Majestic Theatre, I saw air violinists inspired by Anna Bulbrook’s delightful performance. She was the element that pulled everything together that night. It was enjoyable to watch the interactions of The Airborne Toxic Event as they fed off each other’s energy during the 90+ minute performance and encore. Detroit kicked off this remarkable band’s summer tour in a big way with a great lineup of tunes and even a few covers such as “I’m on Fire”, “I Fought the Law” and “Folsom Prison Blues.” Jason Stollsteimer’s group (formerly of the Von Bondies), The Hounds Below opened up the night.
