Slayer @ The Detroit Fillmore 11-16-13 (Photos

Testosterone raged at the Detroit Fillmore last Saturday as many big burly dudes and a few hardcore rocker chicks slammed the venue to see thrash metal icons, Slayer. Guitar riffs reigned supreme on the Fillmore sound system creating insane body-slamming mosh pits for those brave enough to enter the main floor. The focus of Slayer’s current tour is to highlight classic songs. The Detroit audience more than adequately showed their appreciation for Slayer’s body of work by head banging, partying hard, and making a lot of noise. Six months ago the band lost guitarist Jeff Hanneman to liver failure. Many fans paid respect by wearing Jeff Hanneman t-shirts. Slayer paid homage to their friend and fellow musician by putting up a Hanneman backdrop during “Angel of Death.” It was a spectacular night of metal music that proved that Slayer is the best in their particular genre.
