Shigeto (aka Zach Saginaw) and Bonobo (aka Simon Green) sold out The Crofoot, and drew a very diverse crowd. Local favorite and Ghostly International artist, Shigeto, had a small entourage with him of his closest friends and family members. He was seen hanging out with his crew right before popping on stage to perform his set that ranged from ambient and soothing to ghettotech ass-tastic music. He has excellent range! Shigeto then jumped on the drums to enhance his own music as it played live. Those that weren’t familiar with Shigeto were blown away.
Bonobo had masses of instruments and equipment on stage. He first appeared on the stage alone, but was later joined by a plethora of other musicians. The lovely and enchanting Szjerdene was a perfect choice for Bonobo’s music because the crowd fell in love with her. Both Shigeto and Bonobo had extrememly dark sets which was superb for ambiance, but challenging for my photos. Bonobo brought with him elaborate lighting screen backdrops that kept the venue dark, but brought on a moody, sensual club vibe which suited the music. Bonobo is so highly regarded because of the way he puts together different sounds to create his rich productions. Being able to see him perform live was a real treat that made me want to delve deeper into his complex music.
