Mr. Moonlight Tour: Peter Murphy @ The Magic Stick 5-14-2013 (Photos, Setlist & Review)

By Alexis Simpson

Whether Peter Murphy is performing his solo or Bauhaus material, he is captivating on stage. Peter is in the midst of the grueling Mr. Moonlight tour that starts out in North America, heads over to Europe, and then finishes up in North America again. This tour he is performing only Bauhaus material in celebration of 35 years of Bauhaus. His showmanship on stage was impressive as he interacted with the audience as only seasoned performers know how. Peter even managed to spot me and my camera hiding in an elevated corner far from the stage and flashed me a few poses. It was evident that Peter Murphy cared immensely about putting on the best show possible for his loyal fans of all ages. He was cheerful and playful on stage despite the fact that he was in the midst of coming down with a cold. After the show, he met with a selection of fans who were particularly impressed by how down to earth and gracious he was.

Bela Lugosi’s Dead was scratched? Wow. In my humble opinion, Bela Lugosi’s Dead would have been a great opening or encore song, an essential cut in a kick-ass set.
